CAMS and AEG Student Groups Visit KPRC 2 Broadcasting Station
Tour Led by Chief Meteorologist Frank Billingsley

KPRC 2Students from the University of Houston’s Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (UH CAMS) were joined by members of the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG) in a recent visit to the Channel 2, KPRC broadcasting station for a tour led by Chief Meteorologist Frank Billingsley.

In addition to testing out their forecasting skills in front of the green screen, students were able to learn about the history of broadcast meteorology and some of the most astounding severe weather events ever covered by the station. The tour ended with an in-studio viewing of the night’s newscast.

KPRC 2Membership to UH CAMS is open to all students. The next general meeting will be held on Thursday, February 26, at 6 pm in SR1 410. Guest speaker will be Dave Schwertz who serves as the senior service hydrologist at the Houston/Galveston office of the National Weather Service.
